I think it would've done well!

It's a minivan without a sliding door...

It failed in the land of wagons, why would it succeed here?
They sold something larger as an SRX and that didn't do well either.

Was that on the Alpha platform?

You can try bringing one up from Mexico. But it didn't sell particularly well anywhere.

It's just a Saab 9-3 that looks like a mini-Cadillac. Would have been the Cimarron all over again.

I wiki'd it and it appears to have been on the Epsilon platform.

Also, it happened to be 6 inches shorter than the CTS

I think you mean "MPV", but either way, wat? Its not that big.
![]() 08/28/2013 at 14:41 |

So we are now in a world where that isn't big?
![]() 08/28/2013 at 14:42 |

Oh but they, kinda, did.

SRX US Sales:
2003 - 5,049
2004 - 30,019
2005 - 22,999
2006 - 22,043
2007 - 22,543
2008 - 16,156
2009 - 20,237
2010 - 51,094
2011 - 56,905
2012 - 57,485
I'm on board with the BLS having no chance for success in NA, but the SRX didn't do well? Even at 20k units/year, I think that's not a failure, especially given that Cadillac has moved 40-60k CTSs each year in the above timeframe.

I've never seen anything even remotely positive about that thing. Like, even pre-Fiat Sebring reviews look flattering in comparison. Some outlets even say it was the worst in the long line of badge engineered abortions by GM(quite a feat if true). The only future it had here was as a rental upgrade over the Sebring.
My favorite review: http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2006/12/cadill…

Oh...if it was based on Alpha, I think it would've been so popular it could be sold in NA.

TBH, I thought it wasn't doing as well as it apparently is.

Big is a relative word. Compared to a minivan, no.
Chrysler Town & Country -
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Cadillac BLS -
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
BMW 3 Series -
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I didn't know the 3 series was a minivan without sliding doors.

It's a mid-size estate car...
![]() 08/28/2013 at 14:55 |

Dude it's just a SAAB 9-3 with blocky styling. You've missed nothing.

Pfft, no one buys wagons here.
Unless DIESEL MANUAL TRANS MIATA WAGON.

Basically. Did anyone say the 3 series was small?
![]() 08/28/2013 at 15:00 |
|
That's like saying a Cruiser is small because we also have Aircraft Carriers to compare it to. That just means there are a lot of big things and some are even bigger than the one in question... not that it's small.
![]() 08/28/2013 at 15:06 |

I was going to make another size comparison, but I realize you won't care or use reason because you think the 3 series is a minivan?!
I'm leaving now .....
![]() 08/28/2013 at 15:13 |

It may look big, but it's no bigger than a SAAB 9-3, because that's what it is underneath.

The SRX was a good car, aside from the trouble prone northstar. I keep telling people that are looking at lambda platform cars (i.e. my whole family) to look at used SRX's instead...no one listens...

As someone who looked into it with my father when my parents wanted to change cars, it became pretty obvious why this wasn't selling. And it's the same thing that kills every "american designed" car in the EU : thay have absolutly no idea of the market.
It was aiming at the same people who buys bmws or audis, just like the ATS now (that will also fail miserably in europe), but never had any good engine to do just that.
Here, in Belgium, most people will get a car with a maximum of 136 hp (~100 Kw). Why ? Because it's realisticly not possible for them to afford the taxes and (obligatory) assurance (or insurance ? I'm not too sure) for more than that specific amount.
Audis and BMWs are popular because they are providing some luxury while having an engine choice for everyone. The BLS on the other hand was offered with a minimum of 150 hp.
Other than that, nobody hardly knew it even existed since there was no real "marketing campain", and only a very few dealers were selling them anyway.
GM was planning to sell a minimum of 10.000 a year, it sold 7.500 total between 2006 and 2010. And the ATS is only offered with a 200 hp gas engine ... Good job learning from your mistakes.

It's a Saab 9-5.

Who said anything about a 3 series being a minivan? Go home Milky, you're drunk.
